We are seeking an experienced and professional Head Door Supervisor to lead venue security teams across our Glasgow City Centre operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, customer service, and team performance.

Purpose of the Role

The Head Door Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating door supervision teams, ensuring the safety and security of customers, staff, and property. The role involves managing venue entry procedures, supervising security personnel, maintaining compliance with licensing requirements, responding to incidents, and acting as the primary point of contact between venue management and the security team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, supervise, and support Door Supervisors during each shift.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings and ensure all team members understand venue instructions and operational requirements.
  • Allocate positions and duties to security personnel and monitor performance throughout shifts.
  • Ensure all staff maintain professional standards of appearance, conduct, and customer service.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members where required.
  • Report performance concerns, misconduct, or training needs to management.

Venue Security Operations

  • Ensure all Door Supervisors display valid SIA licences and comply with company policies.
  • Oversee venue entry and exit procedures, ensuring compliance with capacity limits and licensing requirements.
  • Conduct and supervise age verification and identification checks.
  • Monitor customer numbers and venue occupancy levels.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for customers and staff.
  • Ensure security staff carry out regular patrols and inspections throughout the venue.
  • Monitor and manage queue systems outside venues where applicable.

Incident Management

  • Take charge of incidents involving disorder, conflict, refusals of entry, ejections, medical emergencies, and evacuations.
  • Use effective communication and conflict management techniques to de-escalate situations.
  • Ensure all incidents are accurately documented and reported in accordance with company procedures.
  • Liaise professionally with police, emergency services, licensing officers, and venue management when required.
  • Support local police initiatives and ensure compliance with SIA and licensing regulations.

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure fire exits, emergency routes, and safety equipment remain accessible and operational.
  • Report health and safety concerns, maintenance issues, and dangerous occurrences promptly.
  • Monitor compliance with venue policies, including smoking regulations and restricted access areas.
  • Ensure all company records, incident reports, refusals, and search logs are completed accurately.
  • Complete venue-specific risk assessments and communicate relevant information to staff.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure all security personnel sign in and out correctly.
  • Verify that SIA licence details and required documentation are recorded accurately.
  • Complete shift reports and submit operational updates to management.
  • Assist with training and induction of new security staff.
  • Attend company meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by management.

Requirements

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Door Supervisor role.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within the security industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of UK licensing legislation and venue security operations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • First Aid qualification desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to provide a five-year checkable employment and address history for screening purposes.

Pay and Benefits

£16.00 per hour inclusive of holiday pay

  • Basic pay rate: £14.28 per hour
  • Holiday pay accrued at 12.07%: £1.72 per hour
