Lesson 2.3: Health and Safety
Stay Safe. Stay Sharp. Stay Prepared.
Health and safety isn’t just paperwork — it’s about protecting yourself, your team, and the public. Whether you’re in a high-footfall venue or a quiet corporate function, you have a duty of care.
At DIMA Group, we expect everyone to take safety seriously. One careless move can cause injury, damage our reputation, or shut down a job entirely.
Our Responsibilities on Shift
Know the Site
Always take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the site:
- Emergency exits
- First aid points
- Fire alarms
- Assembly points
Stay Alert
If something looks unsafe — say something. This includes:
- Slippery floors
- Blocked exits
- Faulty equipment
- Aggressive behaviour
Don’t Take Risks
Don’t climb things, lift anything too heavy, or ignore warnings. If you haven’t been trained to do it — don’t.
Report All Incidents
If you see an accident, witness an injury, or are involved in anything unusual — report it straight away. Don’t wait. Don’t assume someone else will.
Injured on Shift?
If you or someone else is hurt:
- Stay calm
- Notify the nearest supervisor or first aider immediately
- Fill out an incident report form (you’ll be guided through this)
Important: Even minor injuries must be reported.
Fire Safety Basics
You should always:
- Know where fire exits and extinguishers are
- Never block a fire route
- Follow evacuation instructions immediately
- Alert others if you see fire or smoke
You are not expected to fight fires — your job is to evacuate safely and help others do the same.
Common Safety Mistakes
- Wearing the wrong footwear (e.g. trainers when smart shoes are needed)
- Ignoring manual handling guidance
- Bringing headphones or phones on duty
- Leaving bags or coats in public areas
