Lesson 2.1 – Your Role as an SIA Door Supervisor

Your role at DIMA Group

As an SIA Door Supervisor, you are responsible for maintaining safety, security, and order at client premises while representing DIMA Group in a professional manner.

Your role is both preventative and responsive. You are expected to deter crime and disorder, manage access to premises and respond appropriately to incidents while operating within the law, your SIA licence conditions, and company policies.


Core responsibilities

Your responsibilities include:
• Controlling access to licensed premises
• Carrying out lawful ID checks where required
• Preventing crime, disorder, and anti social behaviour
• Protecting customers, staff, and property
• Monitoring crowd behaviour and identifying risks
• Responding to incidents calmly and professionally
• Recording incidents accurately using company systems

You must always act within the limits of your authority and training.


Authority and limitations

You do not have unlimited authority. Your powers are limited to what is lawful, reasonable, and proportionate.

You must:
• Use communication as your primary tool
• Apply rules consistently and fairly
• Avoid unnecessary confrontation
• Never use force unless lawful, necessary, and proportionate
• Follow site rules and Assignment Instructions at all times

If you are unsure whether an action is appropriate, you must seek guidance from management.


Professional judgement and decision making

You are expected to use sound judgement when dealing with members of the public, particularly in challenging or high pressure situations.

Good decision making includes:
• Remaining calm under pressure
• Assessing risk before acting
• Considering the safety of others
• Escalating issues when required
• Knowing when to ask for support

Poor judgement can place you, others, and the company at risk.


Representing DIMA Group

While on duty, you are the public face of DIMA Group. Your behaviour directly impacts client confidence and future work opportunities.

You must:
• Be professional and approachable
• Communicate clearly and respectfully
• Follow company policies and procedures
• Act in a way that protects the reputation of DIMA Group
