Lesson 7.5: Drugs, Alcohol and Fitness for Work

Fitness for work

All staff must report for duty fit to work and remain fit throughout their shift. Your ability to carry out your role safely and professionally must never be compromised.

Being fit for work means you must not be affected by alcohol, illegal drugs or the misuse of medication while on duty.

Drugs and alcohol

The use, possession, or influence of alcohol or drugs while working or representing DIMA Group is strictly prohibited.

This includes:
• Alcohol consumption before or during a shift
• Illegal drugs
• Misuse of prescription or over the counter medication
• Any substance that impairs judgement, awareness, or reaction time

Medication

If you are taking prescribed medication that may affect your ability to work safely, you must inform management before your shift.

Management will assess whether it is safe for you to work and may make alternative arrangements if required.

Reporting concerns

If you believe a colleague may not be fit for work due to drugs, alcohol or medication, you must report this to management immediately.

Concerns will be handled sensitively and appropriately.

Consequences of non compliance

Failure to comply with fitness for work requirements may result in:
• Immediate removal from duty
• Investigation
• Disciplinary action
• Termination of employment in serious cases
